Established formally in 2019 with the creation of the Independence Bowl game, the IFA has been the home of progressive teams and owners for Minor League Football in the Northeast. What is unique about the IFA is the vast footprint that the league covers, from the great wilderness of Maine to the big apple New York City.

The Independent Football Association
Starting in 2016 the IFA was built among a brotherhood (and sisterhood) of team owners that were looking to do something different. One of their charter members, the New York Patriots, were a traveling independent team that had played a few of their games in the New England area. Developing friendships and a great unique experience for players, the original teams began a playoff and crowned a champion from 2019 as an inaugural year going forward.
